Wanda Lynn Ingersoll, 67, of Brandon, MS, unexpectedly passed away at her residence Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Wanda was born October 10, 1956. She attended school in Coffeeville, MS, and in 1974, she graduated from Coffeeville High School where she achieved the distinction of earning the title of Salutatorian of her graduating class. After graduation, Wanda attended Delta State University where, in 1977, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

The majority of Wanda's career was spent with the Mississippi State Department of Health where she rose to the position of Lab Section Director in the water department. She was best known by her colleagues for her tireless dedication in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina where she spent months onsite, living with other women in a US Army provided Barracks Tent. There she performed testing and quality control at a mobile lab to ensure the residents of south Mississippi had safe drinking water.

Wanda greatly loved her family, and in her leisure time she enjoyed spending time with them. This included numerous activities ranging from sports to card and board games. Wanda greatly cared for all of her family and friends and her passing will leave a void in many hearts.

Wanda was preceded in dath by her grandparents, Melvin and Bertie Lee Yates, and her parents, Bruce A. and Jewel Blakely.

She is survived by her brothers, Charles M. Blakely of Greenwood, Bruce A. Blakely of Madison, and Paul Blakely of Brandon. Her nieces, Landyn Blakely Boggs of Gluckstadt, and Erin Henry of Southaven. Her nephews, Reid Blakely of Brandon, Austin Brower of Brandon, Chandler Henry of Madison, and Nicholas Lopez of Madison.

There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
