Services for Sidney Dale Long will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 2:00 PM at Malmaison Baptist Church.

Mr. Long, age 70, died on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.

Sidney was born Dec. 6, 1946 in Grenada, MS, to the late Woodrow W. Long and Hazel Bailey Long. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Janell Long Peeples and grand-daughter Monica Sky Long.
Survived by his wife of 51 years, Gloria P. Long, of Greenwood, MS; sons, Sidney "Sandy" Long of Holcomb, MS, and Tracy Long (Dana) of Greenwood, MS; daughter, April Long Livingston (Scott) of Savannah, GA; and sister, Maxine L. Haley (Roy) of Carrollton, MS.

Grandchildren include Jessica Long and Devan Long of Holcomb, MS; Justin Long of Savannah, GA, Charity Long of Greenwood, MS, Laken Livingston Hodges of Grenada, MS, Zackery Livingston of Greenwood, MS, six great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sidney didn't meet strangers, he met new friends. He loved to hunt and fish, play pool, and cut grass. He loved helping his friends.
He was a loving husband, father and great-grandfather. Sidney retired from the Coca-Cola plant in Greenwood after 24 ½ years. He then worked for Staplcotn for 7 years.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM at Malmaison Baptist Church. Eddie Carpenter and Dwight Johnson will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Michael Mims, Walter Shaw, David Randolph, Keith Peeples, Ben Wessman, and Tony Henderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Taylor, Devan Long, Kenny Ingle, Dean Haley, and Adam Haley. Burial will follow in Malmaison Cemetery.
