Obituary

Shirley Jean Lindsey Wiggins, 83, of Greenwood, MS, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Golden Age Nursing Home with her daughter Melinda by her side. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, in Itta Bena Cemetery with visitation 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wiggins was born July 13, 1940 in Schlater, MS, to Marshall Lindsey and Ollie Martin Lindsey. She was a former longtime resident of the Phillipston Community near Sidon, MS. She attended Phillipston Baptist Church. Shirley was not only known for her greens, cornbread, banana pudding, and pecan pie, but she was also a skilled seamstress, crafter, and gardener who worked at Supreme Electronics for fifty years. She loved her pets, family, and daughter unconditionally.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Logan, brother, Hollis "Buddy" Lindsey, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Wiggins and son-in-law David DeVito of Durham, NC; sister, Brent Moak of Byram, MS; sister-in-law, Shirley Lindsey of Schlater, MS; and her niece who was raised as her sister, Della Jean Worbington and husband Jimmy of Stewart, MS.

Memorials may be made to Grace Hospice, 200 East Market Street, Greenwood, MS 38930 or Golden Age Nursing Home, 2901 Highway 82 East 38930.
