Obituary

Sammie Arritt Long, 68, of Carrollton, MS, died Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Services will be 12 p.m.  Thursday at Carrollton Baptist Church with visitation 10 a.m. until service time. Rev. Dustin Long will officiate. Burial will follow Longview Cemetery in Carroll County.

Mrs. Long was born January 2, 1957, in Noxapater, MS, to C.E. Arritt and Dixie Lee Goodin Arritt. She was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church. She worked thirty-six years as a secretary in the Greenwood Public School System. Her hobby was entertaining with food and fellowship. She was a devoted wife, and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tommy Long of Carrollton, MS; sons, Trinity Long of Carrollton, MS, and Drew Long of Carrollton, MS; sisters, Melinda Beachum of Fredericksburg, VA, and Diane Fontenot of Ville Platte, LA; brothers, Glen Fontenot of Youngsville, LA, Tim Arritt of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ray Arritt of Partlow, VA; and she was a beloved grandmother of seven grandchildren, Baylee Long, Brelyn Long, Brenna Long, Blair Long, Rhett Long, Kaiden Rayburn, and Bryce Rayburn.

Pallbearers will be David Randolph, Mitchel Long, Joshua Patterson, Patrick Yeoman, Jordaan Schoeman, and Jayson Botes. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacques Heonis, Conrad Reynolds, Stephan Botha, Brenden Van Eck, James Yeoman, Dwight Collins, Kaiden Rayburn, Bryce Rayburn, Rhett Long, Casey Long, and Carl Long.

Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
