Services for Robert Enloe Neely will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS.
Mr. Neely, age 69, left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his home in Itta Bena. He was born on August 13, 1947 in Greenville, MS to the late Wilson and Inez Boykin Neely and lived in Itta Bena, MS for the majority of his life. He was a loving husband of 49 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Itta Bena. Mr. Neely was a longtime respected member of law enforcement from 1972 to 2006, reaching the rank of Lieutenant for the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. During his law enforcement career he received several honors including : National Wildlife Federation Conservation Officer of the Year, Mississippi Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association Officer of the Year in 2002, and Mississippi Wildlife Federation Merit Award in 2006. He lived for his family, especially his four grandchildren. Mr. Neely thoroughly enjoyed having coffee with his long time friend and mentor, the late Joe Saunders and also helping farm with his best friend, George Saunders. He had such a passion for sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with younger generations, often teaching them to hunt and fish. Mr. Neely is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter in law, Jennifer Turner Neely. He was a wonderful man and true servant of the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Peeples Neely of Itta Bena, MS, two daughters, Jenay Neely (Edward) Blackstone of Greenwood, MS, and Kristi Neely (D'wayne) Jordan of Itta Bena, MS, one son, Robert Brian Neely of Flora, MS, four sisters, Betty Neely of Madison, MS, Laura Murphey of Greenville, MS, Ann(Charles) Meyers of Friars Point, MS, and Libby (Edgar) McDaniel of Ridgeland, MS, two grandsons, Wesley Wilson Neely of Flora, MS and Taylor Reeves Jordan of Itta Bena, MS, and two grandaughters, Neely Grace Jordan of Itta Bena, MS, and Mollene Hartwell Blackstone of Greenwood, MS.
Visitation will be held on Sunday September 25, 2016 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS. Rev Higdon Herrington will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Wesley Neely, Edward H. Blackstone III, Shannon Self, Danny Meyers, Daryl Meyers, Charles Meyers III, Reeves Jordan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Scott, George Saunders, Danny Banks, Steve Boykin, Walt Diggs, Dr. Charles Nause, Dan Tullos, Joe Ward, Bill Boykin, Jason Blaylock. Burial will be in Itta Bena Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Itta Bena. Williams and Lord has been entrusted with the arrangements.
