Obituary

Robert Ervin Hodges , 81, of Minter City, MS, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his residence. Services will be Monday, 3 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Hodges was born December 20, 1937 to William Ervin and Ivory Gordon Hodges. He was the oldest son. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially crappie fishing. Robert was known to many as the young 17 year old that found the body of Emmett Till while fishing on the Tallahatchie River. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Hodges Proctor, and his parents.

He is survived by his two brothers, Hubert Lloyd Hodges (Louise) of Minter City, MS, and William Ray Hodges (Raye) of Greenwood, MS; brother-in-law, Doug Proctor of Coffeeville, MS; five nephews and two nieces, Hubert Lloyd Hodges, Jr. (Angie) of Greenwood, MS, Kenny Hopson of Coffeeville, MS, Nanette Hodges Trotter of Minter City, MS, Tina Hodges Alford (Chris) of Greenwood, MS, Justin Hodges (Sally) of Madison, MS, Channing Hodges (Michelle) of Greenwood, MS, and Landon Hodges of Greenwood, MS, and nine great and three great-great nieces and nephews.

Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
