Polly Elaine
Dye
Nov 27, 1951 — Nov 18, 2025
Drew
Polly Elaine Dye, 73, of Drew, MS, died Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday November 21, 2025 at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Ruleville. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Rev. Larry Chouccoli will officiate the services.
Polly was born on November 27, 1951 in Lambert, MS, to the late Dewell Allen Tiller and Valier Elizabeth Pettit Tiller. She was a substitute teacher for 14 years. She enjoyed doing diamond artwork, plastic canvas, crossword puzzles, and growing house plants. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nadine Williams and Nona Spriggs; brother, John Allen Tiller.
Our mother, sister, wife, aunt and grandmother. She was a short red headed woman that had a temper as red as her hair. Don't ask her to cook a grilled cheese; not a good outcome, just ask Shelby, Hannah, or Mitch.
Mom was her happiest when she was on a ball field with us on a hot summer day, in a classroom teaching, or playing with the kids at Sandra Circle, and playing badminton with the "Circle Crew for Life."
As a child, she grew up chopping cotton at uncle Dossy's, or at the pig farm with her dad at Blue lake. Her brother Travis told about a time when he had to push her and Uncle Bubba in the bus's window cause their legs were too short to get onto the bus steps, as well as a time when she and Uncle Bubba had to float on a piece of plywood and a metal ladder when it flooded.
She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all, and she is not suffering anymore. She is with her mom, dad, sisters, brother and nieces.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, David Dye of Drew, MS; daughters, Michelle Gazaway (Wayne) of Crowder, MS, and Stacy Harrison Jamil (Syed) of Hernando, MS; brothers, Travis Tiller (Sue) of West, MS, and Jessie Tiller of Lexington, MS; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, special friend Mittie Pittman, her fur baby "Cat", and a host of nieces and nephews.
