Sanders Sr
Feb 11, 1985 — Mar 13, 2026

Remembering the Life of Phillip Michael Sanders, Sr. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, Mississippi. Phillip was born on February 11, 1985 to Cassandra Sanders and David Johnson in Leflore County. He was preceded in death by his brother, Zarquavious Sanders, his grandmother, Dorothy Sanders, and his cousin, Demetrious Sanders. At an early age, Phillip accepted Christ as his personal savior at McClain MB Church.
He attended Leflore County High School, where he built connections and memories that stayed with him. He was someone who truly enjoyed the simple things in life and loved spending time with his friends and family, whether it was just being together or sharing laughs. He had a passion for sports, enjoyed playing on his Xbox, could spend hours watching cars being built, and was a true car lover at heart. Phillip was known for his sweet spirit and warm smile, and he had a gentle way about him that made people feel comfortable. His presence could brighten a room, and one of the things he loved most was his dog, King, who meant so much to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was employed at Williams and Lord Funeral Home and will also be remembered for his early arrivals, his caring demeanor, and his great dependability.
He is survived by his mother, Cassandra Sanders of Greenwood, MS; father, David (Lisa) Johnson of Atlanta, GA; sons, D'Zhorian Sanders and Phillip Michael Sanders, Jr., and daughter, Makayla Sanders, all three of Itta Bena, MS; three sisters, Lakeeta (Richard) Grossley of Jackson, MS, Keana Sanders of Greenwood, MS, and LaMyia Spentz of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Malik Sanders of Greenwood, MS, Jamel Spentz of Atlanta, GA, and DaChristopher Johnson of Atlanta, GA; four aunts, Carrie (Steven) Harris of Itta Bena, MS, Regina Sanders (Mark) of Itta Bena, MS, Jennifer (Cortez) Dunn of Memphis, TN, and Jackie Jackson of West Point, MS; five uncles, Henry (Latonya) Sanders of Itta Bena, MS, Richard Sanders of Itta Bena, MS, Henry Carter of Tupelo, MS, Aljon (Tameka) Thomas of Greenwood, MS, and Edward Johnson of Atlanta, GA; two nieces, Zy'Liyah Grossley and Kaisley Sanders; one nephew, Amir Sanders; special cousins, DeBrandon (Dominique) Sanders, Jaiquell Sanders, Marquellis (Maessa) Sanders, Darrion Swinney, Marshakie Applewhite Jr., Germarcus Sanders, Ke'Yonce Sanders, Kezzarious Sykes, and Jarquarious Sanders; his lifelong companion, Kiyana Hart, and a host of aunts, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, and friends.
