Services for Margie Loraine Hoover Mims will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2016 11:00 AM at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.
Mrs. Mims, age 94, joined her savior on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1921 in Coxsburg, MS, to the late Britt and Lauretta Hoover and lived in the Carroll county area for all of her life. She was a member of Hollins Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Mims loved to cook and thoroughly enjoyed working puzzles. She spent much of her spare time tending to her yard and was very passionate about animals, especially the deer that would frequently visit her yard. She would even feed them shelled pecans. She was a skilled seamstress and made beautiful quilts. Mrs. Margie worked for Stanley's Department Store for over 10 years, and she also cared for the children at Nana's Nursery. She was very actively involved in her family's affairs, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Jack M. Mims; three brothers, Lester, Barry, and Carl Hoover; three sisters, Gertrude Winstead, Kristine Farrel, and Irene Smith; three sons, J.M., David Britt, and Dwayne Mims; and one granddaughter, Ginger Mims.
She is survived by three sons, Charles (Charlotte) Mims of Greenwood, Jimmy (Francis) Mims of Coila, and Johnny (Melinda) Mims of Greenwood; one daughter, Sandra D. (Thomas "Bubba") Dunn of Greenwood; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev Larry Edwards and Dennis Sullivan will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Chuck Mims, Michael Mims, Stanley Mullvihill, Marcus Mims, Tyler Reeser, Brian Anderson, and Todd Mims. Burial will be in MT Olive Cemetery.
Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood has been entrusted with all the arraignments. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
