Margie Jean Carpenter , of Sidon, MS, passed away peacefully at the age of 71, on Sunday, June 19, 2022 with her daughter by her side after suffering with dementia. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.   Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery near Morgan City, MS. Rev. George Mims will officiate.

Mrs. Carpenter was born February 9, 1951 in Leflore County, MS, to Richard Turner and Cleo Cates Turner. She was a homemaker. In 1970, Jean married Butch Carpenter, and they lived in Sidon in the Phillipston Community. Jean loved her church, Phillipston Baptist Church, playing bunco, and the Phillipston Community.  She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Allen Turner and Freddy Turner, and her father.

She is survived by her son, Butch Carpenter, Jr. and wife Amy of Richton, MS; daughter, Tina Ussery and husband Bobby of Madison, MS; mother, Cleo Turner of Greenwood, MS; sister, Sherry Vaughn of Madison , MS; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Vaughn, Jonathan Vaughn, Jon Allen Turner, Chris Carpenter, Timmy Carpenter, and Robert Westerfield. Honorary pallbearer will be Colby Alderman.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Phillipston Baptist Church, 206 County Road 364, Sidon, MS 38954.
