Obituary

Louise Thornburg, 94, of Greenwood, MS, died Sunday June 30, 2024, at Golden Age Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home with visitation 10:00 a.m. until service time. Rev. Lanny Haley and Rev. James Cheatham will officiate.

Mrs. Thornburg was born November 23, 1929, to the late John F. and Vera Ellis. She was a member of Christ Baptist Church in Greenwood for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at Indywood Glen for their love and care. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Golden Age Nursing Home for their love and care over the years as well as Grace Hospice for their care over the last week to make her comfortable.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Morlino; daughter in law, Melinda Thornburg; brothers, Kenny Ellis and Bobby Ellis; brother-in-law, Bill Thornburg Sr.; sister-in-laws, Ruth Ellis, Corrine Ellis, and Vicki Ellis; grandchildren, Greg (Misty) Morlino, Derek (Sherry) Thornburg, Kevin (Lisa) Thornburg, Dax Thornburg, Mynell (Scott) Upchurch, Carlee Rae (Perry Rice) Thornburg, and Brent (Carrie) Holliman; 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, special niece who helped with her care over the years whom she cherished, Dixie Murphy; and a special friend in her heart, Sandra Upchurch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Vera Ellis; husband, R.C. Thornburg; step mother, Marie Fancher; son, Ray Thornburg; son-in-law, Mike Morlino; sister, Carolyn Ellis Mosley; brothers, Jeff Ellis, Billy Ellis, Jimmy Ellis, James Ellis, and Jerry Ellis; and sister-in-laws, Virgie Denton, Mavis Moore, Ann Thornburg, Lois Ellis, Grace Ellis, and Martha Ellis.

Pallbearers will be Greg Morlino, Derek Thornburg, Kevin Thornburg, Davis Moore, Scott Upchurch, and Perry Rice.

Memorials may be made to Christ Baptist Church in Greenwood.
