Louis E. Fancher, Jr., died Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Indywood Glen in Greenwood, MS.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 1:00 PM at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS with the Rev. Ed McDaniel officiating.

Mr. Fancher was born on July, 18, 1929 in Greenwood, MS, to the late Louis E. Fancher, Sr. and Bessie Mae Fancher. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School where he played trombone in the band. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in San Diego, CA. He moved back to Greenwood in 1949 and became the owner and operator of Fancher Paint and Decorating until his retirement in 2001. He served as the mayor of Greenwood for three terms and was the past president of the Mississippi Municipal League. Mr. Fancher served as the sexton of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood for over 40 year and served in leadership roles in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows on a local, state, national, and international level. He also served on the board of trustees at Mississippi Delta Community College for 27 years and was a Gideon. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as deacon.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Norma Bussey Fancher, and daughter, Alice Fancher Granholm .

He is survived by his three daughters, Marilynn Fancher Clark (Tommy) of Blackhawk, MS, Patsy Fancher Stroupe (Ron) of Stockbridge, GA, and Sandi Fancher Hurt of Greenwood, MS; two sons, Louis E. Fancher, III (Wanda) of Duck Hill, MS, and Eddie Fancher (Angela) of Greenwood, MS, twenty grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Morgan Fancher, Trent Fancher, Zach Fancher, Louis Elliott Fancher IV, Adam Clark, and Cole Fancher. Honorary pallbearer will be David Thompson. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Village. Williams and Lord Funeral Home is in charge.
