Services for Linda Gail James will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017 2:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist in Carroll County, MS.
Linda Gail James, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2017.She was born on July 26, 1950 in Greenwood, MS, to Milton S. "Moon" and Mildred Foltz James and lived in Carrollton, MS. She was a devout Christian and a proud servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Holcomb, MS and had attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for a number of years. She graduated from J.Z. George High School and attended Holmes Community College. Ms. James worked as a medical assistant for over 40 years. She worked in Greenwood, MS, during the 1970's before migrating to Oregon and then to Jackson, MS, during the 1980's and 1990's before returning to her beloved Carroll County for the remainder of her life. She worked in Greenwood, MS, until retiring in 2014. Ms. James had many interests and hobbies including music, fishing, painting, yard art, karaoke, and collecting armadillo memorabilia. Linda had a benevolent and free spirit. She always looked for the positive and good in people. She never went anywhere without seeing someone she knew. She always knew exactly how to spread joy and always shared her bounty, be it big or small, upon everyone she met. A life cannot be measured in years; it can only be measured by the amount of lives one touches. Linda "Flaxy, Lucy, L.J." Gail James has touched many lives.
Ms. James is preceded in death by her father, Milton S. "Moon" James; maternal grandparents, Herchel and Effie Virgina Foltz; and paternal grandparents, Earl Robert and Lela Corder James.
She is survived by her mother, Mildred Foltz of Carroll County, MS; sister, Sue James Duke of Carroll County, MS; niece, Renae Montgomery Evans (Phil) of Ackerman, MS; nephew, Michael Wayne Montgomery (Cristi) of Union, MS; grandchildren, Cody Lemieux of Madison, MS, Megan Montgomery Dove (Tyler) of Philadelphia, MS, Caden Lemieux of Houston, TX, Ryan Montgomery of Union, MS, Heather Montgomery of Union, MS, Philip Evans of Ackerman, MS, Cayman Rane Lemieux of Union, MS, William Ray Evans of Ackerman, MS, and Alex Montgomery of Union, MS; and a very special foster child, Chew Chew.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate the services along with Rev. Jerry McNeer. Pallbearers will be Ryan Montgomery, Philip Evans, William Evans, Cayman Lemieux, Sam Clark, and Alex Montgomery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Caden Lemieux, Cody Lemieux, Ron Moore, Edward Corder, Keith James, Phil Evans, Eddie Jones, Chris Jones, Greg James, Sam Joiner, John Joiner, and Mike Montgomery. Burial will follow the services in Old Union Cemetery in Carroll County.
Memorials may be made on Ms. James' behalf to The Linda Gail James Benevolence Fund at Hillside Baptist Church, 1732 Hillside Rd Holcomb, MS 38947 or Old Union Cemetery.
