Johnny Edward Moorman , 68, passed away on Tuesday at his home in Teoc after a long battle with cancer. Private graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Moore's Memorial Cemetery in Carroll County. Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate.
Johnny was born September 7, 1951 to the late Junior Edward Moorman and Marie Dendy Moorman in Greenwood. He was also the grandson of Jesse J. Moorman and Homer Narmour Moorman, who all preceded him in death. He attended the Greenwood Public Schools. He worked for Moore and McDavid as an auto body repairman for many years, but later became a superintendent in construction for 40 years. He retired in 2004. He was always an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. The joy of his life was his beloved family.
He is survived by his two daughters; Tori Denton Moore and husband Brad of Carrollton, MS, and Melissa Moorman Colvin of Greenwood, MS; five grandchildren, Colby Denton, Gabby Denton, Madison Moorman, Mauri-Beth Colvin, and Mia-Grace Wood; two great granddaughters, Hadley Cate and Hensley Claire Moorman; former wife and friend, Cecilia Moorman Bennett of Buford, GA; Jim Tedford and Logan Neal whom he loved as sons; sister, Carolyn M. McKinney; brother, David Moorman; nephew, Jerry M. McKinney; and a host of cousins.
Pallbearers will be Colby Denton, Brad Moore, Jim Tedford, and Logan Neal.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Abdul Aziz and staff, Dr. Michael Boler and staff, Dr. Tammy Young, Dr. Bryan Gates, Dr. Jeanann Suggs, Sunflower Home Health, Grace Hospice, St. John's Cares, and Golden Parasol Health Care Services.
