Obituary

John M. "Jimmy" Fancher III , 68, of Grenada, MS, formerly of Greenwood, MS, died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his residence. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood, MS. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis McKay will officiate.

He was born December 11, 1949 in Greenwood, MS, to John M. Fancher, Jr. and Jewel Chambers Fancher. He was a graduate of Leflore County High School and attended Holmes Community College. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He retired from the MS State Department of Corrections after 18 years. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Louise Fancher and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Marie Kent of Grenada, MS; two sons, Ben Fancher and wife Haley of Mobile, AL, and Timothy Skelton and wife Tabatha of Greenwood, MS; three daughters, Sharon Dawn Fancher of Venus, TX, Rebecca Jane Fancher of Harrison, AR, and Victoria Harper and husband Ray of Holcomb, MS; brother, Robert "Bob" Fancher and wife Suzanne of Grenada, MS; a niece, Lauren Fancher; two nephews, John M. Fancher and Robert H. Fancher, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Fancher, John Fancher, Robert Fancher, Jason Mims, Chris Harper, and Bobby Goss.

The Patriot Guard Riders of Mississippi will perform the military rites. Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
