John Henry Carpenter, Jr., 82, of Bentonia, Mississippi, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his residence. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, 11:00 a.m. in Bear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Wade Johnson will officiate the services.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Greenwood to the late John Henry Carpenter, Sr. and Genevia Peeples Carpenter. He retired as a supervisor at Amco Manufacturing after 50 years of service. After his retirement, he owned and operated a lawn service for several years. He loved animals, hunting, horses, and gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette Carpenter; sister, Billie Jean Irwin; and a brother, Butch Carpenter.

He is survived by his daughter, Glinda Walton (Billy Joe) of Bentonia, MS; sons, Chris Carpenter (Tammy) of Bentonia, MS, Timmy Carpenter of Bentonia, MS, and Andy Carpenter (Lisa) of Ackerman, MS; sister, Christie Mims (Jerry) of Coila, MS; brother-in-law, Danny Kerr of Teoc, MS; seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Austin Walton, Josh Carpenter, Reed Carpenter, Mark Walton, Buck Roach, and Kaden Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Pate, Bubba Irwin, and Jerry Mims.
