Jerry Dale Peacock, 66 years old, of Itta Bena, MS passed away at University Hospital in Jackson, MS on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Williams & Lord Chapel with Rev. Higden Herrington officiating. Burial will follow at Wood Springs Cemetery in Choctaw County. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 pm Saturday, prior to services.
He was born in Greenwood, MS on April 11, 1949 to the late Upton and Augusta Green Peacock. He was a graduate of Leflore County High School in Itta Bena and attended Mississippi Delta Community College.
Mr. Peacock was employed over 42 years with the Mississippi Forestry Commission before his retirement in 2012. He was a six year member of the Mississippi National Guard, member of the Itta Bena Masonic Lodge and the Greenwood Odd Fellows Lodge. He was the former President of the Itta Bena Rotary Club.
He was of the Baptist faith and is preceded in death by a sister, Faye Sykes, and a brother, Thomas K. Peacock.
He is survived by four brothers, Ben Peacock of Sidon, MS; Wayne Peacock of Greenwood, MS; Burle Peacock of Mathiston, MS; David Peacock of Gulfport, MS and two sisters, Doris Dozier of Sylvia, NC and Patricia Faul of Utica, MS and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Peacock, Jason Peacock, David Peacock, Kirk Newman, Charlie Walley, David Kelly, and Clint Hollis. Honorary Pallbearer is Eddie Stevens.
