Services for James H. Smith will be held Saturday, January 05, 2019 2:00 PM at Ruleville Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith, age 79, died on Tuesday, January 01, 2019 at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home.

He was born on January 21, 1939 in Ruleville, MS, to the late Hersie and Leola Wiggs Smith and resided there all his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Harold Smith and Larry Smith.

James was a US Navy veteran who proudly served his country and was superintendent of the Sunflower School System until his retirement. He was also a member of Ruleville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Jean Nabors Smith of Ruleville, MS; sisters, Carol Sosebee of Olive Branch, MS, and Dixie Smith(Dr.Ottis G.) Ball of Ridgeland, MS; brothers, Joel (Barbara) Smith of Caldwell, TX, and Don (Barbara) Smith of Saltillo, MS; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 05, 2019 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM at Ruleville Baptist Church in Ruleville. Rev. Robert Haney and Rev. Jack Moore will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Gene Stansel, Keith Ball, Brad Ball, Jimmy Haney, Charlie Francis, and Nicholas Sosebee. Burial will be in Lehrton Cemetery.
