James Edward Makamson III, 65, died Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Azalea Commons Assisted Living facility in Cleveland, MS. A private service will be held at a later date.

James was born on October 15, 1960, in Greenwood, MS, to James Edward Makamson, Jr. and Barbara Ann Box Makamson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Anne Carpenter of Greenwood.

He is survived by his sister, Joyce Berry and husband David of Sugar Land, TX; brother, John Makamson of Hattiesburg, MS; nephew, Justin Carpenter of Holcomb, MS; and niece, Lisa Berry of Richardson, TX.

James was baptized at Phillipston Baptist Church. He enjoyed family, friends, motorcycles, pool, and fishing. He worked in construction in Missouri and had his own lawn mowing business in Greenwood.
