James William Hood, 71, of Greenwood, MS, died Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. There will be family service at a later date.

James was born on September 22, 1954, in Greenwood, MS, to Charlie Hood and Betty Ann Langdon Hood. He was a Christian and loved animals. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator, enjoyed spending time with his family, and collecting antiques. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sisters, Lura Dianne Whittington and Susan Lynn Hood.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Estela Corona Rodriguez Hood of Greenwood, MS; sons, Steven James Hood of Greenwood, MS, Chad Hood of Tennessee; brothers, Bubba Hood (Beverly), David Hood, and Chris Hood (Heather) all of West Monroe, LA; sister, Janice Robinson (Scott) of West Monroe, LA;  and ; and grandchildren, Madison Hood, Colton Hood, and Maci Hood.
