James Preston Holly, Sr. , 64, of Greenwood, MS, died Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Regional 1 Hospital in Memphis, TN. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillview Stone Cemetery in Carroll County with visitation 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home. Rev. David Bartlett will officiate.

Preston was born April 12, 1958 in Greenwood, MS, to James Kennedy Holly and Wilma Lee Miller Holly. He was a graduate of Cruger Tchula Academy and was a retired industrial mechanic. He was a member of Hillview Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Jeanie Holly White.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gail Conner Holly of Greenwood, MS; son, J.P. Holly, Jr. and wife Robin of Paris, MS; daughter, Cassie Hubbard and husband Jarod of Olive Branch, MS; and husband Jarod; mother, Wilma Holly of Greenwood, MS; sister, Brenda Conner and husband Louis of Brandon, MS; father-in-law, Robert Gant of Greenwood, MS; four grandchildren, Conner Hubbard, Hayden Holly, Emrey Hubbard, and Mattox Holly.

Pallbearers will be Eric Thompson, Roger White, Louis Ray, Jason Conner, George Conner, and Josh Conner.

Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
