Evelyn Burleson Greene, 89, a native of Greenwood, MS passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at North Valley Extended Care in Tonasket, WA.  A visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, in Greenwood, MS from 10:00-11:00 am at Williams and Lord Funeral Home.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am.  A brief graveside service will be held nearby at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Evelyn was born February 3, 1934, in Greenwood, MS to the late Quinton Kent Burleson and Maebelle Shelton Burleson.  She grew up in Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1952 where she was active in the band.  She then attended the Greenwood Leflore Hospital School of Nursing from 1952-1955 where she graduated with top class honors.

She was married to the late Jimmie Gene Greene for 47 years before he passed away in 2003.  She lived in Greenville, MS and near Lake Chicot, AR from 1966 to 2011.  She then moved to Washington state where her youngest son was living.

Evelyn had a successful nursing career for over 40 years and served in many roles in the hospitals where she worked.  She enjoyed travel, fishing, music, and watching sports – particularly football and baseball.  She liked knitting, crochet, and gifting her homemade divinity candy during the holidays.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother "Nana", and an active member of the local Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Charles L. Burleson (Joy) and H. Wayne Burleson (Betty), and her sister Edith Harbin (Harold).  She is survived by her son Terry Greene (Jo Ann) of San Antonio, TX; grandsons Dr. Jon Greene (Lauren) and Dr. Tyler Greene; son Calvin Greene (Jackie) of Oroville, WA; granddaughters Heather Bird and Jennifer Greene; and four great grandsons, Caleb, Dax, Chase, and Luke.

Pallbearers will be Terry Greene, Calvin Greene, Jon Greene, Tyler Greene, John Burleson, and Chuck Burleson.
