Era Marie Whitfield Kendall
Funeral arrangements for Era Marie Whitfield Kendall, 95, of Carrollton, MS, known to many as "Grandma", will be held at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, July 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Services will be held Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Williams and Lord Chapel.
Mrs. Kendall was born on December 19, 1921 to the late Vance and Corine Watson Brown in Carroll County. Mrs. Kendall was called home by her savior on July 1, 2017, with her family by her side. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Carroll County. She founded Northside Restraunt and Recreation, a place where the children of her community could gather. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Roy L. Whitfield and Hayden Kendall; one sister, Opal Lee; and three sons, Richard Leon Whitfield, Eugene "Bo" Whitfield, and James Alvin Whitfield. She is survived by two daughters, Jan (David) Homer of Saltillo, MS, and Faye (Harold) McDonald of Carrollton, MS; one son, Kenneth Ray (Cheryl) Whitfield of Okolona, MS; one stepson, Franklin Ray (Gayle) Kendall of Carrollton, MS; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; 4 step grand children; 9 step great grandchildren; and a special friend, Joy Carpenter.
Pall bearers will be Jim Whitfield, Brad Whitfield, Todd Whitfield, Roy E. Whitfield, Robert Hunter, and Jeffrey Hunter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gil Shaw, Jim Howard, Jim Meriwether, Pat Patterson, and Doyle Carpenter. Bro. Jerry McNeer and Minister Tony Brown will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Moore's Memorial Cemetery in Carroll County. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital on her behalf. An online guestbook can be signed at www.williamsandlord.com.
