Earl Levi Trotter, 86, of Greenwood, MS, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Valley Hill Baptist Church in Carroll County. Rev. Jim Kelly will be officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Valley Hill Baptist Church and 12 p.m. till service time on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Trotter was born December 2, 1929 in Carroll County to Jessie Thomas Trotter and Callie Modena Logan Trotter. He was a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church and an active member of the Woodman of the World. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he enjoyed gardening. He retired from Thompson Machinery after working there for several decades. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Stella Marie Trotter; three sisters, Ona Mae Johnson, Lou Carpenter, and Patricia Fore; two brothers, Earnest Trotter and Jeff Trotter, and his parents.
Mr. Trotter is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Johnson Trotter of Greenwood; three daughters, Charlotte Gilmer and husband B.B. of Greenwood, MS, Linda Narmour and husband James of Carroll County, MS, Shannon Vargas and husband Manuel of Greenwood, MS; five step-sons, Tim Hodges and wife Pat of Cleveland, MS, Tommy Hodges and wife Pam of Itta Bena, MS, Tony Hodges of Greenwood, MS, Ray Hodges and wife Brandi of Itta Bena, MS, and Chris Hodges of Greenwood, MS; his sister, Joann Barnes and husband Barney of Minden, LA; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Mark Gilmer, Mike Narmour, Adam Hodges, Jeffrey Hodges, Mike Barnes, and Donnie Cleveland. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Wiggins, Alan Berry, Jerry Roark and Troy Motsinger.
