Dorcy Steed Blount, 81, of Teoc, Mississippi, passed on to his Heavenly home, Saturday, April 10, 2021, with his loved ones at his side at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital. Visitation and funeral services will be Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Malmaison Baptist Church, County Road 130. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm with services at 2:00 pm. MASKS PREFERRED and graveside services will follow in the church cemetery.

Dorcy was born September 3, 1939, to Vallon Mabry and Roxie Geneva Blount in Teoc, Mississippi. He grew up in Eudora, Arkansas, and Sidon, Mississippi, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1957. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958, served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1961 at Fort Benning, Georgia. He moved to Norwalk, California, in 1962 and worked 4 years at Soule Steele as a ladleman. He met his wife, Patsy Karen Bauerkemper, who was a teller for Downey Savings and Loan at the time, and they fell in love and married April 9, 1966. Their children, Nathan Mabry and Karen Anne were born in 1966 and 1970. Dorcy went to work for Pacific Bell in 1967 and worked 12 years for them before transferring to South Central Bell in Greenwood, Mississippi, in 1978, bringing his family with him. He worked 19 years for South Central Bell before retiring in 1997. He was a union man and served as CWA president for several years.

The loves of his life were his wife, Patsy, children, Nathan and Karen, and grandchildren, Vallon Sanders, Anna and Lauren Blount, Kayla, Brett, Marleigh, and Payton Goss. Many wonderful family get togethers and celebrations were enjoyed, and his presence will be greatly missed in the future. Dorcy was a very handsome, strong, honest, hard-working, kind, and loving man.

He enjoyed raising Cutting Bred Quarter horses for 25 years, breaking and training them. He also enjoyed keeping up with the stock market, day trading and with local and national politics and news.

Dorcy loved the Lord and was a member of Malmaison Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Training Union teacher over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Michael Lynn Blount, sister, Judy Rebecca Gullett, and nephew, Joseph Vallon Blount. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy; one son, Nathan Mabry Blount (Tina) of Canton, Mississippi; one daughter, Karen Anne Blount (Bobby Goss) of Grenada, Mississippi; and seven grandchildren, Vallon Sanders of Grenada, Anna and Lauren Blount of Canton, Kayla Goss of Jackson, and Brett, Marleigh, and Payton Goss of Batesville. He is also survived by one brother, Jimmie Blount (Kathleen) of Teoc; sister-in-law, Peggy Blount of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and brother-in-law, Michael Bauerkemper (Pat), of Mission Viejo, California.

The Reverend Larry Edwards will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Vallon Sanders, James Hargrove, Steven Blount, Michael Blount, David Smith, and Bobby Goss. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Connell, Jerry Stanford, Bill Sayle, and Sonny Brown.
