Dawson Scott Mims, 16, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am at J.Z. George High School Gymnasium with Bro. Gary Tanner officiating. Williams and Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be: Braden Counts, Michael Nichols, Daniel Nichols, Brandon McKenzie, Kyle Nichols, and Colton Acy. Honorary Pallbearers will be J.Z. George Football Team. He was born on December 17, 2005 to John Jason Nichols and Brittany Mims in Jackson, Ms. Dawson attended J.Z. George High School where he played football. He worked at Greenwood Market Place and was a member of Blackhawk Baptist Church. Dawson enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was well loved and will be missed dearly. Dawson was preceded in death by his father, John Jason Lowe Nichols; paternal grandfather, Johnny Nichols, and his great grandparents: Sonya Dyess, Frank Allen Dyess, and J.W. Mims. He leaves behind his mother, Brittany Myers (Tracy); three siblings, Brandon Myers, Kaylee Myers, Carlin Myers; his paternal grandmother, Mary Catherine "Sissy" Nichols; maternal grandparents, Barbara Mims (John) and Jeff Mims (Donna) and great grandmother, Betty Mims. Dawson also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
