David Dale Lessley, Jr. 57, of Greenwood died Monday, March 7, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens of Grenada Cemetery. Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lessley was born April 23, 1958 to the late David Dale and Pauline Hosonitz Lessley. He graduated from Grenada High School and attended Delta State University. He resided in the Greenwood, Grenada area most of his life. He managed Big Star Grocery in Greenwood for several years and worked for the company over 20 years before becoming disabled in 2008. He was a Notre Dame football fan and hobbies were art work and playing music.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Penny Nokes Lessley of Greenwood, son Scott Brown and wife Courtney of Longmont, Colorado, sister Dale Hill and husband Jimmy of Grenada,his mother and father –in-law Ossie and Grace Alderman of Phillipston, MS. He is also survived a host of family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Jones, Wayne Holeman, Gary Fant, Derrick Simpson, Dennis Wixon, Howard Alderman and Orlando Totton. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Murphy Martin, Dr. Kenneth Hines, present and former employees of Big Star Groceries in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
