Charles Richard Connell , 82, of Carrollton, MS, died Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his residence. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home. Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate the services.

Mr. Connell was born December 1, 1938 in Carroll County, MS, to Walter Connell and Ethenene Brown Connell. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School. He worked for Mississippi Power & Light for over 35 years. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. He was an outdoor enthusiast and loved to spend time with his family. He served in the United States Navy and on the U.S.S. Saratoga. He also served in the Navy reserves.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda Lou Lott Connell of Carrollton, MS; son, Chuck Connell and wife Cathy of Hattiesburg, MS; daughter, Diana Connell Buchanan of Pearl, MS; granddaughter, Courtney Connell of Hattiesburg, MS; great-grandchildren, Abbi Buchanan of New Albany, MS,  Bennett Buchanan and Hampton Buchanan both of Sugar Hill, GA; three grandsons, Matt Buchanan and wife Danica of New Albany, MS, Mark Buchanan and wife Paige of Sugar Hill, GA, and Chip Connell of Phoenix, AZ.
