Bonnie J. Messer, 79 of Morgan City died Friday, February 5, 2016 at Golden Age Nursing Home. Graveside services will be 2p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Itta Bena Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. til 1: 30 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home. Burial will be in Itta Bena Cemetery. Rev. Perry Irvin will officiate.

Mrs. Messer was born in Leflore County on January 24, 1937 to Lois Ussery and Lucille Perry Ussery. She resided in the Leflore County area most of her life and was a resident of Golden Age for the past five years. She was a member of the Morgan City Baptist Church in Morgan City. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Messer was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Messer is survived by her husband of 62 years Royland L."Bud" Messer of Greenwood, daughter Betty Tanksley and husband James of Greenwood, five brothers William "Sonny" Ussery of Union, MS, Billy Ussery of Sidon, MS, Wayne Ussery of Lagley, LA, Donald Ussery of Greenwood, MS, and Ronald Ussery of Greenwood and two grandchildren Jamie Tanksley and Beth Tanksley and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Jolly, Will Jolly, Buster Holeman, Marvin Holeman, Donald Ussery, Billy Ussery, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Hines and staff at Golden Age Nursing Home.

Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
